on monday we had a really awesome lesson with an investigator name j d . we've been teaching him for a while and we decided to show him the restoration. after we committed him to baptism. its amazing how much people change when the begin to accept the gospel. when we first started teaching him he wouldn't read the Book of Mormon but this week we asked him to read one chapter and we found out hes read all of 1 and 2 Nephi!!! so we're pretty pumped about him.
on Wednesday we were making our way out of the apartment when we started walking down the steps and my comp screams IGUANA . i thought he was kidding but then i saw about 4 steps down the biggest iguana i've ever seen. my companion said he thinks that there really dangerous and he started frantically calling our ward mission leader who gave us the number to the animal control. when we called them the said they wouldn't be there for 5 hours. they told us just to pick it up or push it with a broom (which makes me think they're not that dangerous). well my companion didn't want to get even close to it and i didn't want to grab it and get bit or something so i grabbed the broom and started shoving it down the stairs but the stinker didn't want to leave so when i finally got it in to a corner where the stairs turn i wedged it in to the corner and went down the stairs but my comp didn't wanna follow me so i threw the broom back up to him. well he didn't want to use the broom so he got a bucket and started chucking water on it. but that didn't work and it just sat there so after about twenty minutes of convincing Elder Velez finally came down with the broom like i did and he was fine. after we went and told a man sitting outside we had an iguana sitting on the stairs, and before we could ask him what we should do he went and grabbed it and came out side with it by the tail haha. i don't know why but he dropped it and it started chasing us down the drive way and up the street. i felt like i was in Jurassic park. after i ran about 15 feet i looked and it stopped chasing us and a bunch of kids started laughing at us and i stared laughing too because i noticed my companion didn't stop running hahah . the rest of the day was pretty normal but Elder Velez was pretty freaked out by the hole experience.
we had a pretty successful week but we couldn't get any investigators to church. we actually couldn't even get members to show up. at 1130 when church finally started there was 16 people there and i was the youngest hahah. it was a pretty good week, my spanish is better and i'm feeling more comfortable in lessons.
hope every one else had a good week!
