its getting hot here...
well we had another pretty good week here in the "not-so-beutiful" escuinapa haha.i love escuinapa but it always smells like burning garbage cuz everyone burns their garbage here.
On Wednesday i went on divisions with elder Johnson, hes only got about 4 months in the mission. i went to his area and the first thing we did was contact this little old lady, i think all i said was hi were missionarys from the church of Jesus Christ and.. and she started talking and didnt stop talking for a good 40 minutes haha, she was super nice and actually is a member but she has a talent to talk and talk and talk hahah.I had a pretty good day with elder Johnson.
on thursday a sister offered us some crab chiptole, i only ate a little bit cuz im not a big fan of sea food but my comp ate a bunch! later when we ate lunch the sister made this really spicey soup and after we ate my comp started feeling a little bit sick. when he went to the bathroom he brought his hymn book with him i didnt realize why until after, ya see the only thing that separated the bathroom and the kitchen was a curtain and well my comp was wise knowing that he wouldnt have much privacy and didnt want to make a disturbance for those of us who were still eating and he began to sing "i am a child of god" really loud. thankfully the family we were eating with were really cool and we just started laughing haha. that was the highlight of the day.
Friday we went to the little town again but in the afternoon. we had an awesome day but at 645 we found out that the last bus passes at 7. so we hustled to the freeway but we were too late. so we had to do what no one ever wants to do in mexico in the middle of nowhere, hitchhike haha. we called down this old guy who gave us a ride to town. i was pretty nervous about it but we got back safe.
Saturday we had an awesome day! lots of work and at the end of the day we ate hamburgers.
sunday we had a lot of hope, we had about 5 investigators that told us they were gonna come but not even one came. it was rough but it wasnt the first time and it wont be the last.
today we got our hair cut and played billiards with the other elders.
last week my mission president sent me a scripture that i really like. in D&C 64 33-34.
33 Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work. And out of small things proceedeth that which is great. 34 Behold, the Lord requireth the heart and a willingmind; and the willing and obedient shall eat the good of the land of Zion in these last days.
I really like this scripture because its hard to always do the right, temptations are easy to fall into and hard to get out of, even as a missionary we are tempted every day to just give up. elder cook said that now in day satan wants us to believe that we have the choice to be happy now in our mortal lives or happy in the life to come (if it comes) but God promises us happiness now and forever if we do the right. the small the things like praying and reading the scriptures build our testimonys strong and maintain them. we have to always be willing to do the right. live the gospel is the happiest way to live here on earth and after. i love being a missionary because i have the opportunity to see these things every day!

March 28th:
what a week ladies and gentle man!
well it was the last week of my comp and we were determined to work hard. sadly it was "Holy Week" and a lot of people went to mazatlan.
on tuesday we did divisons. at lunch we found out that another elder had to go to culiacan for his visa so we took his companion which made a trio haha. oh and for lunch i added a new food to the list; squid. i learned that i dont like squid haha. sadly one of the elders in our trio got a little sick after lunch (who knows why?) so we lost a couple of hours with that. later he felt better and we went out to work. that night we had a family home evening and we talked about eternal family's.
Wednesday to saturday we worked hard and found success! thursday we ate dinner with ward mission leader and his wife has a little restaurant out side there house. well while we were there a very drunk man ordered some food took two bites and passed out on the table. our mission leader went out to wake him up but he was OUT haha. so he had us help him move this guy to the other side of the street so he could sleep with out disturbing the other costumers hahaha it was more fun then it should have been for us. friday night our district bought a piñata for elder taveras and we put a banana in it cuz in the Dominican republic they eat a lot of bananas.
sunday at 625 the elders that live in the apartment under us and i woke up elder taveras with some silly spray and then we make pancakes and bacon for his last breakfast. elder taveras had to speak in church. we spent the afternoon visiting the members for elder taveras.
today at 4 AM elder taveras left for culiacan so he could say bye to some people there and have his last interview. so i said bye and went back to sleep till 7 to send the rest of the elders to there new areas and know im with another elder waiting for our companions to get here. the fun things of being a zone leader haha
