My Companions name is elder Velez, Hes from Cali Columbia. his favorite singers are christina agulera and Madonna ( I wish i was kidding). his favorite song on his ipod is "you are beautiful no matter what they say". we listen to it 8 times a day. but i love the kid, he talks to everyone and loves to talk and eat the food i don't like! no English which makes life difficult. we don't really communicate right now but its getting better. hes a hard worker and teaches me a lot.
so we got in the taxi from 1970 with no seat belts and he flew through the streets of Mexico trying to kill me. we got to a bus station and ate, my second meal in Mexico was Chinese hahah. got on a bus for 3 hours to the city of Mazatlan. a member put us in the bed of his truck and flew through the streets of Mazatlan. I've never prayed so hard hahah. got to our apartment.
the first thing i saw in the apartment was a dead cockroach. it was at that moment i thought to my self "this may be a long 2 years". its a nice little apartment. ants everywhere, the best part its the bathroom. the plumbing sucks so we cant flush our TP, instead we throw it in the trash and throw it out at night. and the worst smell ever comes out of the shower. and no hot water :) other than its not bad , we just clean the ants off the plates and silver wear, the washers outside, and lots of air conditioning!
for breakfast my companion made pasta with hot dogs cut up in it and didn't cook the sauce. third meal in Mexico! i felt like i was in the Mexican version of freaking elf! because he then proceeded to put mayo and ketchup in it!!!!!!! so that happened and i ate it and took the coldest shower ever ahah.
my first day in the field was amazing! the people here are so nice and very excepting of the truth. in my first lesson an investigator named Christopher accepted the invitation to be baptized. its easy to get people interested but catching them at a good time or when their home is hard. in lessons i just sit and smile and laugh when they laugh. on Friday a homeless guy on drugs stopped us and talked to us for an hour. he cried like three times and i was very confused haha. we eventually gave him a picture of Jesus and he walked away. as we pass people in the streets we always say buenas dia and today some lady said hola pedro y juan, bunas dia! or in english hello peter and john! haha
its really hot and i haven't stopped sweating. we carry small towels with us where ever we go because its so humid! there's no cross walks we just play frogger!
the members feed us every lunch and they always feed me way too much. lots of beans which isn't fun but some how i swallow it down. the food other than the beans are really good, yesterday we had tostadas and they were freaking amazing haha. the other day we had these barbecue lamb sandwiches which were better than cafe rio!!!!!!! the members love to make us stay at their house for hours, we'll use a members bathroom and be there for 3 hours haha.
today we cleaned out the apartment and i found 5 dead cockroaches and only threw up twice haha.
i hope i didn't complain too much the life here is great. days are long and the work is fun. there are two sister missionaries in our ward zone we work with a lot (one of them is from riverton but i forgave her) and they said Mazatlan is the fastest speaking spanish in the hole mission so thats fun. i love and miss everyone! ill have pictures next week because i keep forgetting to use my camera
love,
Elder peezzie?
oh and the mission pres dosent let us play sports......
