on tuesday my dl thought it would be a good idea for me and his comp, who has 3 months (in the mission field) and is gringo also, to go in splits for a day! pretty crazy day, we started off the day at 11 o clock. this is were things go bad. we ate with a member, and his less active family. they were very nice and after we wanted to have a quick lesson. we choose service because we thought " thats a harmless topic" but we were wrong, so wrong! after we both testified in very broken spanish we asked if they had any comments , this was a bad idea. the wife began to yell at us as if we told her she was a sinner!!! from what we understood she basically has no time for service. we were both in shock so my comp was kinda " um well can we end in a word of prayer" hahahah. after that we didnt have much success. we walked for 4 hours with out a lesson, plus some homeless guy was following us around. when we finally got a lesson it was with a new investigator so we just tried to teach the first lesson. some how this went bad too haha. from the time we went in, to the time we left the guy couldn't stop moving and kept saying his chest was hurting. after about 10 mins we asked him if he needed something and he said he wanted to lay down. so we ended and left. after we were standing in front of his house trying to figure out what to do he came walking out with some women. we were so lost haha. after we kept trying till about 8 when we visited with the bishop and we told him about the day so he made us pancakes haha. the next day was new years eve and we were told to be in the houses at 8, thet day was pretty normal until 630 when we got invited to one of our favorite members for dinner! the fed us menudo (which is a soup with cow stomach!!! :) i didn't know that until the day after because i didn't ask and they didn't tell me. it was THE nastiest thing i have ever smelled or eaten. but i finished and we went back to the house. i think i got a good four hours of sleep all together so that was fun. music and screaming and fireworks and everything else!
the next day was pretty weird. the streets were full of beer bottles and passed out drunks but no one awake till about 5, for lunch we went to an awesome members house and she made us tacos, but i never had tasted the meat before. so i did something i may regret for the rest of my life, and asked what is the meat. my comp said with the biggest smile Tacos De Cabeza! suprisingly enough i enjoyed tacos de cabeza hahah, it tastes like really fatty greasy pork and the eye is really squishy haha.
the rest of the week was pretty normal but today we had the awesome opportunity of waking up at 3 to go to freaking culiacan. three hours in the nicest , but loudest bus ever. and 6 hours of sitting in the office while my comp went to the immigration office and three more hours back! pretty boring but we made it back ready to pass out haha. not a lot of success this week but im pretty excited about this week! love and miss every one!
